Mobile Surveillance System (MSS CAC) Van (Catalog #10000-002) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/89 - 4/91

EMI performed a second conversion of a 28-foot RV vehicle to hold surveillance system instrumentation. EMI installed equipment racks, as well as designing and building an automatic power source switching system and constructing an RF attenuating bulkhead between the driver compartment and operational area. The roof was reinforced to hold 1000 lb. loads, and antenna mounting fixtures were installed on the roof deck and side walls. Surveillance system instrumentation was installed by the customer.

Mobile Surveillance System (MSS)Van (Catalog #10000-002) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/89 - 4/91

The MSS Van consists of two major systems: a 28-foot chassis and van body, and a surveillance instrumentation system. EMI purchased a recreational vehicle and engineered and fabricated modifications. The van includes a kitchen/bathroom living area as well as a work area containing desktops, workbenches, and slide-out electronic equipment racks. EMI fabricated a roof deck capable of supporting 1000 lb. loads and interfaced the surveillance system instrumentation onto the van, including mounting telescoping and fold-down antennas on the roof.

Mobile Surveillance System (MSS CAR) Van (Catalog #10000-004) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/89 - 4/91

A third MSS Van consists of a 45-foot double drop fifth wheel van trailer. EMI fabricated the van, which includes electromagnetic shielding, aluminum diamond deckplate reinforcement on the roof, and a 30 KW generator. A hydraulic antenna lift platform, platform stabilizer, and permanent access roof ladder are installed in the rear compartment. Three communication antenna and satellite clock mounts and an antenna mounting pad are installed on the roof. Four antenna mounts and poles were mounted, two on each wall. A work area is equipped with cabinets, shelves, work surfaces, safe, and slide-out equipment racks. Also included are five camera mounts. Surveillance instrumentation was installed by the customer.

Transportable Surveillance System (TSS) (Catalog #10000-005) Contract Number: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/88 - 3/90

WSMR required a transportable surveillance system to support frequency surveillance requirements for the Communications Branch. EMI engineered and fabricated the 45-foot instrumentation van. The van was supplied with three air conditioner/heaters, cable reel, slide-out equipment racks, cabinets, telescoping masts, roof deck, antenna lift platforms, and communication patch panels. The contract also called for EMI to purchase and integrate approximately $1.2M worth of state-of-the-art frequency surveillance equipment.

Frequency Surveillance Van (Catalog #10000-003) Contract: Edwards AFB, CA; 3/89 - 9/89

Edwards required a system to support the Communication Branch's transportable frequency surveillance requirements, consisting of interfacing specialized options onto two GFE 12-foot four-wheel-drive Ford vans. This included installing four shock mounted equipment racks and a work top in the interior; providing a security alarm system; mounting and wiring GFE generators on the rear; installing feedthrough connectors and power panel; installing a 400 lb. capacity roof rack; and installing lights, air conditioner, and telescoping pneumatic mast on the roof. Frequency surveillance equipment was installed by the customer.
