Fiber Optic Cable Splicer Trailer (FOCS) (Catalog #04000-008) Contract: Los Alamos National Labs, NM; 3/95 - 6/95

This Los Alamos National Labs contract required a 12-foot trailer to be used for fiber optic cable splicing. EMI procured a Wells Cargo trailer and wired, insulated, and finished the interior with reinforced fiberglass paneling on the walls and vinyl tile on the floor. In the interior EMI installed electrical lighting and outlets, steel cabinets and laminate work surfaces. Provided on the exterior were strobe and floodlights, tiedown rings, ECU, and generator with weather enclosure and fuel tanks.

Instrumentation Van (Catalog #04000-003) Contract: Hughes Missile Systems Co., Tucson, Az; 10/94 - 2/95

EMI purchased and modified a 24-foot Wells Cargo trailer for Hughes. EMI removed customer-furnished air conditioning units and equipment racks loaded with equipment from an additional Hughes van and installed them into the new trailer. A partitioning wall was constructed at the front of the trailer to provide an open storage area for power panel and converter. EMI fabricated and installed a computer work surface and refurbished customer-furnished office equipment. Refrigerator and microwave unit were installed.

General Purpose Instrumentation Shelters (Catalog #04000-022) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 4/94-10/94

WSMR contracted with EMI to design and completely fabricate 12-, 16- and 24-foot shelters to be mounted on customer-furnished trucks. The vehicles provide mobile instrumentation capabilities for DoD testing at remote WSMR, California and Alaska field sites. Air conditioning and heating system are configured for specific desert or polar environments. Shelters are furnished with equipment racks, storage units, uninterruptible power supply and cable reel. Telescoping pneumatic masts and compressor were provided when required.

Small Instrumentation Trailers (SIT) (Catalog #04000-017) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/93-1/94

The SIT trailers are 28-foot tandem axle, fifth wheel design Wells Cargo trailers. The trailer interior was modified by EMI to establish two separate work sections. The forward room is furnished with computer workstation, under-counter storage cabinets with Formica work surfaces, and a water cooler. A rear section contains computer workstations and k-bottle racks. EMI installed telescoping pneumatic mast with compressor and retractable canvas awning on some units. Eleven trailers were provided.

Operations Step Van (Catalog #04000-012) Contract: Los Alamos National Labs, Los Alamos, NM; 4/94 - 7/94

EMI modified two customer-furnished step vans for heavy load and high altitude requirements, including installing heavy duty air springs, alternator, signal flashers, transmission oil cooler, radiator and steel bumper with pintle hook. Also installed and tested were 12 Vdc electrical system; hookup for 80 kW generator trailer; customer-furnished AC electrical system including grounding plate and floodlights; roof mounted air conditioners with heat strip; and blank patch panel. The rear roll-up door was replaced with double swinging doors. EMI finished the interior and installed refrigerator and microwave oven.

Mobile Shelter System (Catalog #04000-006) Contract: Los Alamos National Labs, Los Alamos, NM; 8/93 - 1/94

EMI engineered and fabricated two 20-foot 15,000 lb. payload shelter systems to transport high energy x-ray equipment for x-raying dense containers at nuclear accident sites. The shelters provide a fitted container for shielding x-ray equipment from environmental elements and transport shock, and provide a shielded environment for personnel working at the accident site. The shelters are removable for transport by C130 or C141. The shelters are transported by customer-furnished tow vehicles.

Advanced Time Space Positioning Van (ATS Array) (Catalog #04000-004) Contract: Edwards AFB, CA; 8/93 - 2/94

EMI designed and fabricated three instrumentation vans to support the Advanced Time Space Positioning Information (TSPI) System array at Edwards. EMI installed lighting and power distribution systems and other equipment in the shelters, including an on-board power generator, air conditioning, equipment racks, work tables, storage cabinets, and exterior storage boxes. EMI also purchased control electronic and other equipment to be used to upgrade existing outdated TSPI equipment to enhance real time capability and data reliability. Control equipment was interfaced by the customer.

Remote Instrumentation Control System (RICS) Van (Catalog #04000-021) Contract: White Sands Missile Range; 9/89 - 9/93

EMI contracted with WSMR to design, fabricate and interface remote instrumentation control skid vans to support the range's optical tracking capabilities. The 16-foot shelter systems include ECU, cable reels, slide-out equipment racks, cabinets, and communications patch panels. Two units mounted on EMI-built fifth wheel trailers with towable 15 kw generators, and one unit mounted on a GFE truck were built.

Guidance Test Van (Avionics Test Van) (Catalog #4000-014) Contract: Holloman AFB, NM; 8/92 - 6/93

EMI repaired, modified, and refurbished a GFE van chassis/body and motor which had suffered severe rust and water damage to all components. EMI completely stripped the interior of the van and rewired, remodeled and refurbished the interior. A missing roof section was supplied, and the entire exterior was repaired and repainted. EMI upgraded the fuel tank from 75 to 300 gallons and installed antenna plate and skylight on the roof. Also provided were driver compartment and workstation seating, equipment racks, and work stations. Other equipment included a 40-channel CB, intercom unit, safety equipment, 60-kw power generator, shielded AC/DC converter, and a super cooled test chamber. Engine repair and ECU were subcontracted.

MPJ/Data Acquisition and Analysis Trailers (Catalog #04000-011) Contract: White Sands Missile Range; 5/93 - 9/93

The trailers required for MPJ are the same as those for the Monitoring Trailers, and required essentially the same modifications. In addition, EMI installed GFE 42' telescoping mast and compressor on the rear.
