M373A2 Shelters (Catalog #02000-001) Contract: Raytheon Services Co., El Paso, TX; 2/97 - 4/98 & 6/00 - 1/01
Raytheon subcontracted with EMI to build the M373A2 shelters. They are 32-foot van-type aircraft loadable combat trailers. Units are "build to print", fabricated in strict accordance with MIL-S-4671C. To assure strict conformance with fabrication tolerances, EMI constructed a jig accurate to within ± 1/16", overall deviation 1/8". Extensive testing of the completed units was required, including road, water spray and water immersion testing. Twenty-nine production units were provided by EMI. Under a later contract EMI provided fourteen additional units, built to the same exacting specifications.
Race Car Trailer Contract: Fox Motorsports, Las Cruces, NM; 6/95 - 2/96
EMI contracted with Fox Motorsports to convert a used CFE 48-foot dry freight van into a race vehicle support van. The van required complete refurbishment, inside and out. EMI re-secured loose roof and wall siding to the support members, fabricated personnel/freight entrances on each side of the van, and fabricated a winch-operated swing-down door in the rear to provide a ramp for driving the race vehicle into the van. EMI completely refurbished the interior and exterior and provided kitchen/living quarters and restroom facility. The rear of the van houses race car and maintenance equipment.
Stinger Trailer Refurbishment Contract: Hughes Missile Systems Co., White Sands Missile Range, NM; 10/94 - 2/95
EMI purchased a 10-foot dual axle flatbed trailer and designed and built an interface for a customer-furnished radar mount to allow a remote Stinger launcher to be attached, so that azimuth and elevation tracking can be accomplished by the mount. EMI also fabricated and installed a weathertight enclosure for rack-mounted electronic equipment. A cable reel compartment on the rear of the trailer houses seven cable reels. The compartment can be rotated downward to allow more space during operation of launcher and tracking system. EMI also installed brackets to hold argon gas bottles, a customer furnished generator and a jib crane for removing the generator during operations.
