HEMP SHIELDED TRAILERS

Shielded ISO Shelter Upgrade (Catalog #03000-010)

Customer required a 16-foot long shielded iso shelter, fabricated and tested to MIL-STD-188-125. An initial unfinished test shelter was engineered and built by EMI. It was used for testing structural integrity by performing a drop test using a simulated load, and for testing EMI/RFI shielding integrity. Shielding is accomplished with riveted aluminum exterior skin, fully welded seams on steel interior skin, shielded doors, and filtered power. A second interior shielded volume is built in the front streetside of the shelter. Two shielding tests were performed, one before and one after the structural drop testing. The second shelter was manufactured the same as the first, except it was completed, with wiring and lighting, air conditioning, finished interior walls, floor and ceiling and exterior paint. The second shelter was also shielding tested. Both shelters met all testing requirements. The interior walls are finished with carpeting, and unistrut channel is mounted at four levels on the walls. The floor is finished with seamless vinyl, and unistrut channel is recessed into the floor. The ceiling is finished with acoustical pyramid foam. EMI provided and installed slides for customer-installed equipment racks. Shielded doors and filters were provided by the customer for installation by EMI.

Small Shielded Trailer (SST) (Catalog #03000-001) Contract: Bonneville Power Administration, Portland, OR; 9/92 - 7/93

EMI engineered and completely fabricated a 16-foot shielded trailer to be used for field testing of high voltage power transmission equipment. Electrical service filtering and conditioning and communications equipment were provided in a utility area. Extensive EMI/RFI shielding was provided for a second room which housed customer-furnished data acquisition, recording and control equipment. Independent shielding testing was concentrated at the 14 kHz frequency range for magnetic fields.

Pulsed Laser Vulnerability Test System Van (PLVTS) (Catalog #03000-002) Contract: Rockwell Power Systems, Albuquerque, NM; 7/90 - 1/91

Rockwell Power Systems requested a 14'x 65' trailer to house and transport a PLVTS device. The trailer acts as a mobile facility, housing a high energy laser device, transfer optics, beam pointing telescope, data acquisition system and controls, and related equipment. During operation the device trailer interfaces with a utility trailer for facility support. EMI engineered and fabricated the trailer, including an EMI/RFI shielded room, and an inside overhead crane system which serves the full length and width of the rear compartment, and extends eight feet out the back of the van.

Directed Energy Weapon Test Suite (DEWETS) (Catalog #03000-004) Contract: Rockwell International, Albuquerque, NM; 11/90 - 11/91

EMI built an EMI/RFI shielded mobile electro-optics van which provided Rockwell with a data measurement system to support tactical laser weapon system testing. DEWETS is a stand alone system with self-contained electrical power sources, control systems, and data collection and processing equipment. A laser curtain separates instrumentation racks from a laser work table. To minimize vibration during testing, the power generator and air conditioner are mounted on an isolation pallet which is separable from the frame via hydraulic jacks.

Certification Van (Catalog #03000-003) Contract: China Lake NWC, CA; 9/88 - 3/90

EMI designed and fabricated a transportable certification surveillance system van to support the requirements of the Communications Branch at China Lake. EMI fabricated one 12-foot S280 EMI/RFI shielded shelter, and purchased and integrated approximately $900,000 of state-of-the-art frequency surveillance and signal processing equipment onto the shelter and onto a four-wheel-drive truck. The van contains ECU, slide-out equipment racks, cabinets, roof deck, antenna lift platform and communication patch panels.

High Powered Microwave (HPM) Van (Catalog #03000-005) Contract: White Sands Missile Range, NM; 9/88 - 1/90

White Sands required a prime mover and a 45-foot instrumentation van to support high power microwave experiments. EMI engineered and performed modifications on a prefabricated shelter. The interior was finished with computer tile floor, dropped acoustical tile ceiling, and carpeted walls. An EMI/RFI shielded room was built into the front, containing slide-out equipment racks and work surfaces. A furnished kitchen was installed in the midsection. The rear was configured as a work and conference area. A fiber optic intercom system connects all areas. A full-length roof deck, ECU, rear liftgate, telescoping mast, and 30 kw generator were installed on the exterior.
