P1 Van Retrofit (Catalog #09000-003) Contract: Lockheed Missile & Space Co., Sunnyvale, CA; 5/92 - 12/92
EMI modified an existing P1 Van for LMSC. Modifications included installing eight trifold doors on the sides and relocating existing equipment to accommodate doors; installing sliding doors and ramp supports front and rear; replacing existing fixed bellows with double-ended model and perimeter plate for interfacing with other vans; and installing bellows hoist, security system and safety equipment. EMI inspected and evaluated the ECU and installed a makeup air assembly. Refurbishment included installing belly boxes and completely refurbishing interior and exterior surfaces. P1 serves as a hallway interface for M1, P2a and J Prime vans.
M1 Medical Van (Catalog #07000-001) Contract: Lockheed Missile & Space Co., Sunnyvale, CA; 7/91 - 10/91
EMI, under subcontract to Lockheed, provided a 45-foot dual purpose van, capable of being configured as a medical van or a conference van with medical treatment facility. The van is divided into four areas: medical treatment and decontamination area, corridor, patient ward or conference area, and patient isolation ward or office area. When configured as a medical van, the forward two areas are equipped as a patient ward with folding bunks. When configured as an office support van, they serve as office and quarters for staff personnel. The M1 interfaces with the P2a and J Prime dormitory vans and the P1 connecting corridor van.
J Prime (J') Dormitory Van (Catalog #09000-002) Contract: Lockheed Missile & Space Co., Sunnyvale, CA; 4/91 - 10/91
In conjunction with the M1, P2a, and P1 vans, Lockheed required a second 45-foot multi-function trailer capable of functioning as both a dormitory and storage van. EMI engineered and performed modifications to a dry-freight van. The sidewalls were reinforced to accommodate cutaways for three external personnel doors. The rear door is equipped with a perimeter plate and removable bellows for interfacing with other vans. The trailer is equipped with ECU, Halon fire suppression system, and communications system. It houses ten sets of three-tier, fold-down, individually equipped bunk beds. When bunks are not in use, the entire floor to ceiling area serves as a cargo storage area, equipped with cargo restraint netting. The exterior is equipped with waterproof steel storage compartments extending across the entire belly of the van.
P2a Dormitory Van (Catalog #09000-001) Contract: Lockheed Missile & Space Co., Sunnyvale, CA; 2/91 - 8/91
Lockheed subcontracted with EMI for a 40-foot multifunction trailer to serve as a dormitory/storage van with work and meeting area. EMI modified a dry-freight van by reinforcing the walls to accommodate cutaways, and manufacturing and installing ten external fold-up doors. The rear door is equipped with perimeter plate and bellows. The van contains ten sets of three-tier fold-down bunk beds. When bunks are not in use, the entire floor-to-ceiling area serves as a cargo storage area, equipped with cargo restraint netting. This was one of two dormitory vans supplied by EMI, to be used in conjunction with the M1 hospital van, the J Prime dormitory van, and the P1 corridor van.
